This was one course that... in my opinion was not as enriching and I’m still trying to understand how it helped me grow. Advanced Study of Learning? Teachers take this course both at the undergraduate and masters levels; to be required to take it again at the Specialist or doctoral level was rather redundant. As educators, we apply these skills on a daily basis in the classroom. I agree that not all educators have grasped the essence of this course in their professional practice.
However, a candidate accepted to pursue a Specialist Degree must have provided evidence of professional practice that reflects his or her basic understanding of theories of learning. Besides, teachers’ professional evaluation ensures that they do, and when there is unsatisfactory evidence, it should be purued as a training need for teachers needing it. To summarize, I did not learn anything new about Vygotsky and Bloom's taxonomy but I had to live through it as a course requirement. That being said, the instructor handled the class very well.
