I really looked forward to this course but did not enjoy it as I had expected. The course content was undoubtedly relevant but I feel that very little consideration was given to the problems that we were bound to run into for taking this course during the summer. In addition to the stress of completing it in half the time it takes to complete a regular semester, we were assigned tasks that required working with students during the summer.
The course expectation would have been more reasonable during the school year but to go seeking an ELL or special education student to work with from your church or anywhere in the community was a tall order. Much as it worked out ok, it would have been more strategic to assign this course during the school year.
In addition to the above expectations, we had to create a capstone project. Again, the capstone project was relevant but there was more emphasis on APA style. Agreed, this is graduate level course work and should be consistent with APA style but that is not all that should be the focus. Content is equally releant. Overall, the course was relevant and met my expectations for the most part.
