As a graduate student, this course was quite relevant as it reminded me of all the research related expectations and helped me improve my research approach. It was great to begin the course with all the IRB information: legal requirements, ethics and all the compliance topics. I also liked that both quantitative and qualitative research approach were discussed. For my masters degree, I had taken a qualitative approach and had assumed that for this program, I will continue to take a qualitative approach. I must admit that this course has given me a new perspective on quantitative research studies and this time, it will certainly be a consideration to use a quantitative method or at least a mixed method approach to conduct a research. To summarize, this course provided a fresh and new perspective on quantitative research.
On the other hand, I wish the course content had been more simplified and organized. The units were chunked together. Sometimes, different modules with several assignments were presented as one unit. It was always confusing to know where to stop for the week and where to continue the following week. To make this distinction was rather time consuming and of course confusing. In the future, I would suggest that information be simplified by units or modules rather than chunked. However, the professor was always in touch and he handled student questions in a timely manner.
