In reflecting on this course, there were several learning opportunities that helped me grow. The most exciting activity was the workshop challenge. I've always had thee idea to create a digital breakout for teachers. This course presented a perfect opportunity to engage teachers in meaningful professional development that was unique, exciting and informative experience. The workshop was attended by teacher leaders in the building and they valued the workshop enough that they will be implementing it with other teachers whom they mentor.
The most interesting part of the experience was the adopter challenge game. It closely represented my current reality to encourage technology adoption by some of the teachers that I have tried to support with technology integration. It was a little disappointing to learn that the enthusiasm for teachers to adopt new technology is usually low, it was also encouraging to learn that I was not alone in my real world experiences/challenges.
To continue with professional learning beyond this course, I will continue to explore more authentic ways to engage teachers with technology and encourage them to become adopters. I believe that if I am able to consistently immerse them in an engaging professional learning experience, teachers will more easily embrace the vision and become enthusiastic about effective technology integration for all learners. One way that I considering is to create Personalized Professional Development in a digital format. It's already in the works... teachers will have choice and voice about how they participate in professional development.
